Ask our teamGetting Started
For most vein care, no referral is needed. You can reach out to us directly. Some insurance plans, and certain vascular or knee pain (GAE) cases, do ask for one. If you're not sure, just call and we'll check your plan for you before your visit.
You can call any of our offices or book online in a couple of minutes. When you book online, it's a time request rather than a final appointment: our team calls to confirm the details and make sure the time still works for you.
Three areas: vein care (varicose veins, spider veins, venous reflux, leg swelling, and leg ulcers), vascular care (peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, and aneurysms), and knee arthritis pain through Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE).
We have six offices across the Inland Empire, High Desert, and Coachella Valley, each with an on-site ultrasound lab. You'll find addresses, hours, and directions on our Locations page.
Every procedure is performed by a fellowship-trained vascular specialist, not a technician or general provider.
Yes. Our teams care for patients in both English and Spanish, and we take the time to explain every option in plain language. Our website is available in both as well.
Insurance & Cost
Usually, yes. When veins cause symptoms like aching, swelling, or cramping, treatment is considered medically necessary, not cosmetic. We accept Medicare, IEHP, PPO plans, and many other insurance plans, and we verify your exact coverage before your visit.
Yes. Your initial vein screening is complimentary and takes about 15 minutes, with a painless ultrasound when it's needed. There's no obligation to move forward. It's simply a first look so you understand what's going on.
No. The complimentary screening is for vein care only. For vascular concerns, you'll have a consultation with a vascular specialist. Knee pain care involves a full consultation with a qualified GAE physician at select locations. Both are typically billable to insurance.
We accept most major plans, including Medicare, IEHP, Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, and Cigna, among many others. You can see the full list on our Insurance We Accept page, and we're glad to verify your specific plan.
Yes. Before anything is scheduled, our team verifies your benefits and explains any out-of-pocket cost, so there are no surprise bills later.
When treatment is purely cosmetic, it usually isn't covered. But if your spider veins come with symptoms or an underlying venous reflux problem, that care is often medically necessary and covered. A screening tells you which applies to you.
Vein Care
Not usually. Bulging or ropey veins are often the visible sign of venous reflux, where weakened valves let blood pool in the legs. Left alone for years, that pressure can lead to swelling, skin changes, or slow-healing sores, so it's worth having them looked at.
We offer the full range of modern, minimally invasive options: VenaSeal, ClosureFast, Varithena, sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, and compression therapy. Your specialist matches the approach to what your ultrasound shows, often pairing a closure with a surface treatment.
Today's treatments are done in the office through a tiny pinpoint or fine needle, with local numbing. Most patients feel little more than a pinch, walk out the same day, and return to normal activity right away, often with just a week or so of compression stockings.
VenaSeal closes the treated vein for good. In clinical studies, roughly 94.6% of treated veins remained closed at five years. Empire Vein is a leading provider of VenaSeal in Southern California, with 25,000+ procedures since 2016.
It reroutes to healthy deep veins. The vein we treat is one that was already failing, so once it's closed, blood flows through the veins that were doing most of the work anyway. Circulation actually improves, which is why symptoms ease afterward.
The veins we treat are closed for good and won't reopen. Because the tendency to form vein problems doesn't disappear, new veins can develop over time, which is why we follow up with you and recommend simple steps to protect your results.
Drink plenty of water beforehand, ideally six to eight glasses. Being well hydrated makes your veins easier to see clearly on the ultrasound.
Vascular Care
PAD is a narrowing of the arteries that reduces blood flow to your limbs. The most common sign is leg or calf cramping that comes on when you walk and eases with rest. Some people have cold or numb feet, or sores that are slow to heal.
It's a condition worth taking seriously, but it's highly treatable, especially when caught early. Untreated, reduced blood flow can lead to non-healing wounds, so prompt evaluation matters. Most treatments are minimally invasive.
Most are minimally invasive and catheter-based, performed through a tiny pinhole rather than a large incision. Many are outpatient, with little downtime, so you're back to your day quickly.
A referral from your primary care doctor or specialist is common and helps us coordinate your records, but it isn't always required. If you're unsure, give us a call and we'll help.
Our on-site vascular lab is IAC-accredited, a mark of quality held by only a fraction of labs. Your ultrasound testing is performed in-office by experienced vascular technicians, which means faster answers and a plan built around what we find.
Knee Pain (GAE)
Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE) is a minimally invasive treatment for knee osteoarthritis pain. Working through a pinhole, your physician calms the overactive blood vessels feeding inflammation around the arthritic knee. It's designed to ease pain while preserving your knee cartilage.
For many people, yes. GAE is an option for adults who want to avoid knee replacement or aren't ready for it. It doesn't remove or replace anything in the joint, and because it can be repeated if needed, it may help delay or avoid surgery.
Yes, and that's one of its most important advantages. GAE works on the blood vessels driving inflammation rather than on the joint itself, so it doesn't remove cartilage the way some procedures can.
Coverage is expanding as GAE becomes more established, and many plans, including Medicare, IEHP, and most PPOs, cover it for the right candidate. Our team verifies your benefits before anything is scheduled, so you know where you stand up front.
GAE is performed by Dr. Pushpinder Sivia at select locations. Empire Vein is a leading provider of GAE in the Coachella Valley and Inland Empire, where few clinics offer it.
GAE is an outpatient procedure, and most patients go home the same day and resume daily activities the next day. Pain relief tends to build gradually over the following days and weeks as the inflammation settles, though results vary from person to person.
GAE may be a good fit if you have knee arthritis pain and want to avoid or delay knee replacement, or if injections and other measures haven't given you lasting relief. The clearest next step is a consultation, and our short quiz can help you see if it's worth exploring.
Your Appointment
Please arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled time so you can finish any paperwork. You can also download and complete your forms ahead of time and bring them with you.
Your first visit is a consultation and screening. Your specialist reviews your history, examines your legs, and performs a painless ultrasound if needed to build your plan. Treatment itself is usually scheduled for a follow-up once your plan and coverage are confirmed.
Bring your insurance card(s), a referral if your plan requires one, a list of your current medications and supplements, and your completed patient forms. If you haven't filled the forms out, arrive about 15 minutes early.
It's completely painless. A technician glides a small probe over your leg to map how blood is flowing and find any leaking valves. There are no needles and no numbing involved for the scan itself.
Just call your office as early as you can so we can offer the time to another patient and find a new slot that works for you. We're happy to help you find something convenient.
