Traveling to California for care

Vein treatment for Canadian & out-of-town patients

Every year, patients travel from across Canada and the U.S. to have their veins treated while visiting Southern California. Many are snowbirds from Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Portland, and the wider Pacific Northwest, wintering near Palm Springs. Our procedures are minimally invasive, done in about an hour, and easy to fit into a trip. We start your consultation before you ever arrive.

Why patients travel to Empire Vein

You get expert, minimally invasive vein care that works around your trip, not the other way around.

Care that fits your trip

Come for a visit and leave with treatment done. Most vein procedures take under an hour, with no hospital stay and no lengthy recovery.

Start before you land

We review your history and photos in a remote consultation, so we can plan your treatment in advance and do it while you're here.

Highly experienced team

Fellowship-trained vascular surgeons: one of California's most experienced teams, with {practice.procedures} procedures performed.

A snowbird-friendly base

Many of our patients already winter near Palm Springs. We make expert vein care easy to fit into your time in the desert.

How your visit works

From your first call to your follow-up back home, we make it simple to treat your veins during your visit.

01

Reach out & share your history

Call or book online. We gather your medical history and any recent imaging or photos of your legs so we understand your veins before you arrive.

02

Remote consultation

A specialist reviews your case by phone or video and walks you through what treatment would likely involve, so there are no surprises when you get here.

03

Your in-office visit

Once you're in California, you come in for a painless ultrasound. In most cases, treatment happens the same week, often in a single short appointment.

04

Follow-up from home

You leave with clear aftercare, and we check in remotely. If needed, we coordinate with your physician back home in Canada or your home state.

Send this ahead of your visit

A little prep means your California trip is spent on care, not paperwork. Share what you can before you arrive:

Recent ultrasound or vein imaging reports, if you have them
A list of your current medications
Clear photos of the veins that concern you
Your travel dates, so we can schedule treatment within your visit

A note on cost & coverage

Canadian provincial plans and most out-of-state insurance don't cover elective care in California. We keep this simple and transparent:

You get clear, itemized pricing up front, plus the documentation to submit to a private insurer or keep for your records.

Traveling for treatment, answered

The questions out-of-town and Canadian patients ask us most.

Yes. Many of our patients travel from Canada, often Vancouver and Calgary, and from the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle and Portland. They frequently winter in the Palm Springs and Coachella Valley area and have their treatment while they're here. Because our procedures are minimally invasive and usually take under an hour with no downtime, they fit easily into a visit.

Insurance

When your veins cause symptoms like aching, swelling, or skin changes, treatment is typically considered medically necessary, including under Medicare. We'll help you verify your benefits.
